This form of Kinetic Art probably originated in Southern California in the 1960's. Many artists experimented with variations, most of which did not last long.

These "SandScapes" are an example of the most popular type. My wife and I learned the technique in Florida, and started making them out of our home-shop in Bella Vista, Arkansas, in March of 2000. There are three different sand colors in each picture, detergent water, and air. Being completely hand made, each picture is truly unique. They are "adjustable" as to how fast, or slow, you want them to go. Instructions are printed on the bottom of each stand.
